What is collected
Just reading the site
You do not need an account and you are not asked for anything. There are no forms on this site at all. Like every website, the hosting server keeps standard access logs — the requesting IP address, the page requested, the date and time, and the browser’s user-agent string. These are generated automatically by the web server, are used only to keep the site running and secure, and are not used to build a profile of you.
If you email me
The contact page lists an email address. If you write to it, your message and your email address arrive in an ordinary email inbox and are used for one thing: replying to you, or acting on a correction you have sent. Nothing is sold, rented, traded or shared with anyone, and no address is ever added to a marketing list — there is no marketing list.
That mail is handled by an ordinary email provider, whose own privacy terms apply to it in transit and in the inbox, exactly as they would for any email you send anyone.
Cookies
This site does not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. WordPress, the software the site runs on, may set a small functional cookie if you are an administrator signing in. Nothing here follows you to other websites.
Analytics and advertising
As of the date at the bottom of this page, this site runs no analytics service and no advertising. If either is added in future, this policy will be updated before it goes live and the change will be noted here rather than made quietly.
Who else sees anything
The web hosting company that runs the server necessarily handles the traffic to this site and holds the server logs described above. Beyond that, no third party receives information about you from this site. Nothing is sold or shared for advertising, and there are no social media trackers embedded in these pages.
Information may be disclosed if required by law, or where necessary to investigate abuse of the site.
How long anything is kept
Server logs are retained for a limited period under the host’s normal rotation. Emails are kept for as long as they are useful — a correction may be worth keeping a while so the same mistake is not repeated — and are deleted when they are not.
Your choices
- You can read every page on this site without providing anything at all. There is nothing to fill in anywhere.
- You can ask what has been kept about you, and ask for it to be deleted. Write to the address on the contact page.
- You can block or clear cookies in your browser. Nothing on this site will stop working.
Children
This site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13. No information is knowingly collected from children. If you believe a child has sent information by email, get in touch and it will be deleted.
Links to other sites
Some pages link to outside websites — parts retailers, government agencies, published price data. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which this policy does not cover and this site does not control.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the revised version is posted here with a new date. Questions about it can go to the address on the contact page.
