Read this before you act on anything here — particularly before you work on your own vehicle.
Information, not professional advice
Everything on automobilerepair.xyz is general information for the public. It is not professional automotive advice, it is not legal advice, and it does not create any professional relationship between you and the publisher. This site is not a repair facility and is not staffed by certified technicians.
Your vehicle, your circumstances and your own skill level are things only you can judge. Nothing here substitutes for the judgment of a qualified technician who has the car in front of them, or for your vehicle’s own service manual and manufacturer instructions — which always take precedence over anything written here.
Doing the work yourself
Working on a motor vehicle can cause serious injury or death. Vehicles are heavy, they contain stored energy, pressurised fluids, hot surfaces and high voltage, and a mistake on a brake or steering component can cause a crash later.
Any repair you attempt is undertaken entirely at your own risk. You are responsible for deciding whether a job is within your ability, for using the correct tools and safety equipment, and for following the manufacturer’s procedures and torque specifications for your vehicle.
Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always use jack stands on level ground with the wheels chocked. If you are not certain a job has been done correctly — especially anything involving brakes, steering or suspension — have it inspected by a qualified technician before driving.
About the prices
Repair costs shown here are researched estimates and typical national ranges, provided for orientation only. They are not quotes and they are not offers. Actual prices vary widely by vehicle make and model, engine, parts choice, region, individual shop, and the condition of the car once it is apart. A legitimate quote for your vehicle can only come from a shop that has inspected it.
Tool and parts prices are typical street prices at the time of writing and change constantly. Figures are dated where they appear; check current prices before you buy or before you argue with anybody about a bill.
Legal information
Pages describing consumer rights summarise Illinois law in plain language for general understanding. They are a summary, not the statute, and they are not legal advice. Laws change, other states differ, and how a law applies to your situation depends on facts this site cannot know. For advice on a specific dispute, consult an attorney or contact your state’s consumer protection office.
Products, brands and shops
Where specific tools or brands are named, it is because they are commonly recommended at that price, not because anyone paid for the mention. Naming a product is not a warranty of its fitness for your purpose. No manufacturer, retailer or repair business has any editorial influence over this site.
